Stieglitz, Arbus, Leibovitz, Moholy-Nagy, Callahan – These are just some of the photographers who have influenced the way we look at images and the way we create our own images.
During this 5-week course, you will examine the work of these photographers and others. You will explore the people, events and subjects that have influenced photography in 20th Century and beyond. Through class discussions and readings, you will analyze and compare the works of a variety of artists and practitioners, examine how historical events have impacted photographic practice, and explore the relationship between photography and the world.
