If you're thinking about taking up photography with a digital
camera, this is the class for you. Digital Boot Camp is a crash
course that introduces students to the basic operation of a
digital camera (DSLR). You don't need any previous experience
whatsoever – it's a workshop meant for beginners. You don't even
need to own a digital camera yet – we can provide you with one
for the class.
During the first half of the class you'll learn how to operate a
digital camera to get the results that you want. There will be
lectures and short shooting assignments in the CPC neighborhood
so you‘ll have the opportunity to become very familiar with
camera operation. After lunch, you'll spend some time in our
digital lab learning how to publish your work and produce top
quality prints from our top of the line printers. You will also
learn composition and how to control the quality of available
light to get beautifully lit portraits.
If you do have a digital camera, please bring it with you along.
You'll also want to bring the user manual if you have it. If you
don't have the user manual, don't worry - we'll work with you so
that you fully understand how to get great results from your
camera. And if you haven't yet purchased a digital camera, we can
provide one to you for the class as well as offer you advice on
which cameras may be well suited to your photography needs.
Please bring a pen and notebook with you to class. There is a lot
to get through in one day, so you'll want to take plenty of
notes.
At the end of the day you will go home with a new understanding
of digital photography and at least two 9" x 6" high quality
prints that you shot and printed.
