This class further explores the subtleties of correct
exposure and introduces students to more advanced darkroom
techniques. You'll learn to view photography with a more
experienced, thoughtful eye.
During the seven week class, you will be given five shooting
assignments. You should be prepared to spend some additional time
each week to work in the darkroom printing the assignments.
You'll be introduced to polycontrast filters, burning and dodging
and other printing methods. We will critique your work each week
at the beginning of the class. This will be followed by
recommendations on how to improve both your shooting and printing
techniques.
There will be lectures on composition, lighting and the history
of photography.
For this class, your camera must be a 35mm SLR (single lens
reflex). You should bring your camera, lenses, negatives and
prints to every class. This class also includes a weekly darkroom
assignment beginning the first week of class, so students should
be prepared to attend CPC twice each week.
