To be considered for potential exhibition, the artist should send or drop off a packet which consists of the following:
1. A letter introducing the artist, addressed to Curator Susan Aurinko.
2. Slides, work prints, CD or digital output for preliminary review. This should cover any major bodies of work, either recent or past.
3. A current resume and bio, listing exhibition experience, if any, education, awards and/or grants, etc.
4. An artist’s statement regarding the work being submitted.
5. A self-addressed envelope with the appropriate postage for the return of the work being submitted.
Due to the volume of submissions Chicago Photography Center receives, please allow four to six weeks for a response. If you are concerned about the shipping of your packet, please send it confirmation of delivery. Please do not call or email to check on the status of the review – you will hear from us as soon as it is possible for us to respond. If we are interested in showing your work, you will receive a letter or e-mail requesting you to return with actual prints for review during a meeting with the director, or in the case of artists residing out-of-state or out of the US, to ship actual work, or in the case of local artists, to arrange for a studio visit.
It is common for artists to be first shown in a group show. To that end, if the work is accepted, we may need some time before gathering the other artists with whom you will be shown. In that case, we will let you know that we are keeping your packet until we have all the artists in the show chosen.
Please submit work to:
